RELATIVES of 14 frail residents of a St John’s Wood care home claim that the troubles of its private operator have left them fearing for the future.
But City Hall chiefs this week said they had been “assured” by Southern Cross Healthcare there were “no current risks” to the 14 Westminster residents cared for in the St John’s Wood Care Home in Boundary Road.
The company has announced it was to axe almost a quarter of its 750 care homes.
Councillor Daniel Astaire, cabinet member for adults and health, said: “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and ensure that any of our residents placed in accommodation through Southern Cross are fully supported and continue to receive appropriate care.”
Talks with Southern Cross would continue.
