iPhone snatcher Andre Hendon jailed

A BICYCLE-RIDING mobile phone thief has been jailed for a year after being chased and caught by a lorry driver.

Andre Hendon, 22, snatched the iPhone from a woman in a “ride-by” theft in Malta Street, Clerkenwell, in May.

Delivery driver Mark Tomlinson-Alan, 34,  saw what happened and pursued Hendon in his van. He saw him ride into a nearby estate and gave chase on foot, eventually blocking him at the entrance to flats. 

“It was an instinctive reaction to get him,” he said. 

Hendon pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months for theft at Blackfriars Crown Court, and nine months for breaching an earlier suspended sentence.
