Heath arrest led to banned drug laboratory

POLICE were led to the discovery of an illegal Crystal Meth factory after finding a man asleep on Hampstead Heath.

Officers discovered Max Maxwell asleep in his car in April after taking the psycho-stimulant drug Crystal Meth. They found a further 20 wraps of the substance concealed in his car.

Following his arrest, officers contacted West Mercia Police who searched the 39-year-old's home in Shropshire and discovered a drug-making laboratory.

He was sentenced to three years and four months at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday for the production of and intent to supply Crystal Meth, a Class A drug.

DCI Mark Strugnell, of Camden police, said: "This is a great example of how officers can effectively work together across borders to achieve a great result. Camden's Major Crime Unit has been working closely with West Mercia Police throughout this investigation.  As a result of this successful partnership a large amount of Class A drugs, intended for the streets of Camden, has been confiscated."
