THE director of Coram’s Fields playground and children’s facility is retiring after 22 years.

Camden Mayor Jonathan Simpson and Coram’s Fields treasurer Michael Horowitz QC were among those who attended a reception at the Town Hall on Wednesday to celebrate Sandy Wynn’s long and successful career at the seven-acre centre in Bloomsbury.

A former electoral agent for Ken Livingstone, Ms Wynn went on to become deputy leader of Camden Council before joining the staff at Coram’s Fields, where she launched significant capital projects, including the new Youth Centre building, and the refurbishment of the nursery – now a Children’s Centre – which opened last week.

Ms Wynn described her role as “one of the best jobs in Camden”.

“I am, however, looking forward to not having to catch a train every day,” she added.

Ms Wynn will be replaced by Octavia Holland, who joins Coram’s Fields from the Department for Education (DfE).

The 33-year-old, who has nine years’ experience working in education and children’s services for both local and central government, said she was “excited” to be joining the staff. Ms Holland is hoping to raise funds for improvements to the Western Colonnade and the farm at Coram’s Fields, as well as introducing an aviary.
