TWO artists are preparing to hit the streets of Soho to ask residents to take part in a series of new artworks for the soon to reopened Photographers’ Gallery.

Rebecca French and Andrew Mottershead, who have been commissioned by the venue in Ramillies Street off Oxford Street, will be spending the next four weeks in the area meeting residents, workers and visitors and photographing them.

The gallery is currently being refurbished and will reopen in the autumn, but a “site specific” exhibition will take place in the streets of Soho in the spring.

Mr Mottershead said: “We need participants.

“The only requirement is that you are a resident of Soho.

“We’ll ask participants to choose from a range of themes representing life in Soho.

“Some people love the urban element and others like the sound of the horse hooves from the Household Cavalry waking them up in the morning.

“We’ll then stage group photographs to represent the variation of different realities.”

Any residents interested in taking part should email info@frenchmottershead.com
