A PUPPY has been rescued from a communal bin at the bottom of a rubbish chute in a nine-storey block of flats.

RSPCA inspectors fear the dog was thrown down the chute from a balcony in the Perth House block on the Bemerton Estate. A resident heard the animal yelping from inside a tall paladin bin and went to the rescue.

The RSPCA were alerted and inspectors took the female Staffordshire terrier, who they have named “Chip”, to a kennel for lost dogs.

“There is no way this dog could have got into the bins by herself as they are far too tall,” said RSPCA inspector Leigh Summers. The bin room was apparently usually kept locked, so the dog may have been thrown down the rubbish chute and ended up in one of the bins.”

The RSPCA this week appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them. Chip is around 10 months old, white with brown markings, and was wearing a brown leather collar.

She was discovered – uninjured – at around 8pm on Friday, January 21.
