AN unemployed man accused of decapitating his neighbour appeared in court at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

The headless body of meter reader Lakhdar Ouyahia was found in an alley behind a parade of shops in Kilburn High Road in February 2008.

The 43-year-old lived in Kingsgate Road where his neighbour was Mohammed Boudjenane. Boudjenane, 48, denied a single count of murder when he appeared before the Common Sergeant of London, Judge Brian Barker. His trial was fixed for September 26. He remains in custody.

Police divers recovered the victim’s head in a shopping bag from the Regent’s Canal at Little Venice.
