Islington to play host to Olympic delegation - Business Design Centre base for Czech athletes

ISLINGTON is expected to play host to the Czech Olympic delegation, which plans to base itself at the Business Design Centre at Angel during the Games

Special security arrangements will be involved under the proposal to use the centre’s main exhibition floor. It is expected that the Czech Prime Minister or President will officiate at the opening and closing ceremonies.

An Olympic House for sports people and leading officials will be built in the former Royal Agricultural Hall. There will also be giant screens and staged events.

A planning application submitted by the centre will be considered at Tuesday’s Islington Council planning committee. Several objections have been made by local residents concerned about noise and disturbances.
