GREAT-GRANDMOTHER Dolly Wren has been awarded an MBE for being a special neighbour.

The 77-year-old, who lives on Islington’s Isleden House estate, was presented with the award by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Ms Wren was nominated for being “the perfect neighbour” at the estate in Prebend Street where she has lived for 62 years. A spokeswoman for the City of London, who manage the estate, said that despite having two jobs and bringing up her three children, Ms Wren always found time to help others on the estate.

After the recent ceremony, Ms Wren said: “Even if I won the Lottery, I wouldn’t move from Isleden House. You can’t buy a community like you have here.”
