Royal Parks fight luxury flats near Primrose Hill

THE peace and quiet of Primrose Hill could be ruined by a new luxury housing development on its borders.

A planning application for a six-storey building with an underground swimming pool in St Edmund’s Terrace on the site of a former reservoir will be discussed tonight (Thursday) by the Town Hall’s planning committee.

The proposed development has been criticised by the Royal Parks, which looks after Primrose Hill.

Under the plan, 10 buildings would be demolished and replaced with 40 flats.

The government’s Homes and Communities Agency originally offered £1.1million to help pay for affordable homes at the development, but that funding was withdrawn by the Tory-Lib Dem coalition. Developers have said they will find the extra money from their profits.
