Islington Chamber of Commerce shortlisted for green award

THE Islington Chamber of Commerce’s (ICoC) Business Waste Recycling Project has been shortlisted for “Sustainability Project of the Year  2011” in the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.

The awards aim to celebrate the work of British companies in sustaining a greener world, and will announce a winner on July 7.

Until March 31 this year, the ICoC’s Business Waste Recycling Project spent a year and a half providing free, independent recycling and reuse advice and assistance to businesses and third sector organisations in Islington. 

Funding from the Islington Strategic Partnership has now been cut, but the ICoC will continue to offer basic guidance and support to businesses wanting to improve their waste recycling.

ICoC chief executive Ronke Lawal said: “It’s fantastic because it recog­nises all our hard work.”
