Asbo keeps teenager off Boston and Nailour, Bemerton and Barnsbury estates

AN argument with two policemen has resulted in a 16-year-old being banned from a large area of Islington and prevented from seeing his friends publicly for two years.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given an anti-social behaviour order for verbally abusing and threatening the community support officers in Caledonian Road, in December.

The Asbo, granted at Highbury Magistrates’ Court last week, prevents the youth associating with two other 16-year-olds in any public space in Islington; from congregating in a public space with two or more persons in a manner likely to cause people to fear for their safety; and from an area taking in the Boston and Nailour, Bemerton and Barnsbury estates, as well as Barnard Park. He is allowed to visit his family and Barnsbury Community Centre.

PC Carel Le Masson said: “We will work to combat anti-social behaviour by individuals who impact the quality of life of residents.”
