PREPARATIONS are under way for the first Haverstock Carnival.

Organisers of the Notting Hill-style party are hoping to create an “outrageous shindig” and are urging volunteers to attend a series of free weekly workshops starting tomorrow (Friday).

The project launch – including live music, food and face painting – is at the Carnival “pop up” shop in 46 Malden Road from 7.30pm.

Haverstock ward Councillor Jill Fraser said: “The Haverstock Carnival project offers activities that everyone in the community can get involved in.

“The event itself promises to be quite a display and it would be great to see as many local people as possible involved in making this a day to remember.”‘

The main event is  on October 30.
