GLENDA Jackson took a hearing test at the Royal Free as part of an open day event in the Hampstead hospital on Thursday, writes Tom Foot.

And the results showed the Labour MP for Hampstead and Kilburn’s ears are in good shape.

Ms Jackson told visitors, staff and governors in the Wells Atrium: “The Royal Free has a particular place, not just in Hampstead but in the whole of north-west London. There is something about it. I’ve been to the Royal Free many times but this is the first open day I’ve attended, and it’s been very good.”

Hundreds of people wandered around the atrium learning about diabetes, heart disease and liver transplantation to maternity services, physiotherapy and the history of the hospital.

Aarti Makan, a senior audiologist at the Royal Free, said: “The hearing tests have been incredibly popular. We’ve not had a chance to sit down!”
