A TIME capsule has been buried beneath University College London Hospital Trust’s £100million Cancer Centre
Photographs, patients’ stories and information about 21st-century research and treatments available on the NHS will be preserved for centuries in the depths of the building.
Former health minister Frank Dobson, Labour MP for Holborn and St Pancras, joined chief executive Sir Robert Naylor, at the special event.
Sir Robert said: “Cancer is no longer an illness that is a death sentence, it’s now about survivorship.
“That’s what this centre is all about – treating patients in a way that helps them live with cancer and supports them through it.”
Mr Dobson said: “This new cancer centre is going to be a remarkable step forward not only for patients but the people who will provide the treatment and care.”
The centre is set to open in 2012.
