Funding cuts threaten Camden Community Law Centre’s future

VITAL advice for people in desperate need of legal help will be reduced to a trickle after the Camden Community Law Centre were told they are facing swingeing cuts in their budget this week.
The law centre, based in Prince of Wales Road, was founded in 1973 to offer free legal advice and is a not-for-profit community organisation managed by a voluntary management committee.
They had been told earlier this year by the Legal Services Commission that changes to the legal aid system would mean they could no longer offer free advice to the most needy on issues of housing, benefits and debt.
The centre, staffed by legal experts dedicated to helping those in desperate situations, now claims the loss of funds to help cover these types of cases means the future of all their services is threatened.
