ISLINGTON Chamber of Commerce has been shortlisted for a prestigious Enterprising Britain London award.

The 200-strong group competed against hundreds of organisations in the competition, organised by Enterprise UK.

The chamber’s chief executive Ronke Lawal was delighted to have been named a runner-up. “They were looking for an organisation who supported business and was particularly good with young aspiring business people,” she added.

“I think they appreciated the Islington chamber’s dedication and commitment to business. There have been many changes in the past year, with more activities including a breakfast club and better partnerships with Islington Council and the two local universities.”

Winner was environmental group APE Media for Social Enterprise, based in Banbury.

The breakfast club meets every Tuesday at 7.30am at solicitors Bolt and Burden in Upper Street.
