A DISGRUNTLED punter ejected from a nightclub set fire to himself in a bungled revenge attack on a bouncer.

After being thrown out of Club Aquarium in Old Street, the man returned, threw unknown liquid over a doorman and tried to light it but failed.

He then poured the liquid onto the road, finally succeeded in his attempts to light it, but set fire to himself.

A police spokeswoman said:  “He is believed to have sustained burns to his body.”

The man, aged about 40, ran off down Vine Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at 6am on Saturday, September 25.

They are looking for a man described as a Mediterranean, aged 20 to 30 years of age, of muscular build with short black hair. At the time he was wearing a grey zip top and jeans.

Anyone who can help is asked to ring DC Cen Blackwell on 020 7421 0144 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
