TRAINEE sound engineers have been getting hands-on experience at a legendary Camden music venue.
Five students have been given exclusive access to sound equipment at the Dublin Castle in Parkway as part of a course run by the pub’s own sound engineers Andy Coules and Ben Etchells.
Mr Etchells said: “There are a lot of really bad sound engineers out there. I did a course two years ago and I wasn’t impressed with it. Students need hands-on experience which they can only get through work experience. That’s the idea.”
As well as using the pub’s equipment, those taking part have also been called in to work at live gigs.
Student Shakey, a full-time promoter, said: “I’m learning so I can do it myself – so I don’t have the cost of a sound engineer. But the ultimate aim is to have my own venue.”
Annmarie Barwick, a bass player, added: “My dream is to be behind a sound desk.”
