PUPILS joined the celebrations when a new library flung open its doors last week following a £4million revamp.
Pimlico library – part of the £35m Pimlico Academy development in Lupus Street – will be open to those studying at the school as well as to adult learners.
It has a “bookshop feel” with couches, a quiet zone and wifi internet access and is more than double the size of the library it replaces, which was based in neighbouring Rampayne Street.

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Judith Warner, and Deputy Mayor of London, Kit Malthouse, also attended the opening.
Cllr Steve Summers, Westminster’s cabinet member for community services, said: “The new library looks great and has a really modern and airy feel and I’m sure it will be highly welcomed by our residents.
“In addition, the purpose-built community education centre will provide first-class facilities for our adult learners and help equip them with skills to get back into work, training or education.”
