DODGY DVDs could be harder to find in Islington after police smashed a counterfeit racket supplying local sellers.

They raided the main factory supplying the busy market for fake DVDs in the area around the Nag’s Head, in Holloway.

Manzoor Jalal was jailed for 16 months after police discovered a huge stash of counterfeit DVDs and four DVD tower burners at a house in Walthamstow.

Accomplice Zeeshan Ahmed received an eight month suspended prison term.

Sentencing the men at Blackfriars Crown Court last week, Judge Hillen, said: “Many people are losing their jobs in the film industry through the greed of others.”

Kieron Sharp, Director General of the film industry’s Federation Against Copyright Theft, said film fraudsters should expect to be locked up for such “serious criminal activity”.
