Volunteers clear up litter at Parkland Walk

VOLUNTEERS were praised by business leaders in Finsbury Park this week for helping to clean up an open space notorious for litter.
The seven-strong team spent several hours over the weekend cutting back undergrowth and removing rubbish at the Parkland Walk, a former railway line.
Volunteer Sally Billot, a retired Citizens Advice Bureau worker, said: “Our open spaces are precious but you can’t always rely on the councils – Islington, Haringey and Hackney – to keep them clean. Every once in a while we go out and do our bit.”
Finsbury Park Business Forum chief executive Talal Karim thanked the volunteers for their fine example. “Sally and her team did excellent work to keep our green spaces clean,” he said. “But I would also like to thank cleaners from Islington, Haringey and Hackney for the work they do cleaning up streets around Finsbury Park and Stroud Green.”
