ARSENAL defender Johan Djourou has opened a football pitch and play area on a Finsbury estate – funded by his club as part of its Positive Futures programme.
The Swiss international was surrounded by young fans at King Square estate.
Homes for Islington (HfI) and sports giant Nike also contributed to the £140,000 cost of the new pitch and play area.
HfI chief executive Eamon McGoldrick said: “Working with Arsenal, we hope to ensure as many young people as possible in the surrounding area have the opportunity to use this new facility.”
Positive Futures promotes arts, photography, music and football projects for young people on estates in Islington.
