FOR many people, the Royal nuptials mean nothing more than an extra day off work.
But for the organiser of award-winning music festival the Camden Crawl, it could mean months of blood, sweat and tears down the drain. Lisa Paulon said she was devastated when it was announced Prince William and Kate Middleton would tie the knot on Friday April 29 next year – the day before the Crawl gets into its stride.
2011 will mark the event’s 10th birthday and is planned to be the biggest yet, but Ms Paulon is worried that the clash will mean rising transport costs and limited accommodation as thousands of tourists descend on London for the wedding.
She is appealing to fans to buy their tickets early and get their accommodation booked as soon as possible.
She added: “We picked the weekend carefully to avoid the London Marathon and the Champions League final and now we’ve got a Royal Wedding to contend with.
“I’m currently monitoring this and looking for advice on regional and international footfall to London as well as projections for the amount of people that will be expected to stay in London over that weekend that have come in for the wedding.”
Last week the Camden Crawl was named “Best Metropolitan Festival” at the Festival Awards for the second year in a row.
