SELBYS department store in Holloway is staging an exhibition of drawings as part of a project to promote local artists.

The store at the Nag’s Head junction on Holloway Road is displaying work by artist Natasha Gomperts.

Manager Sean Doyle said: “We have an area where we can exhibit to our customers and we want to use it to promote local artists.“It brightens up our store and makes the experience of coming here more enjoyable for our customers.”

The works are displayed on a wall by Selbys’ escalators and include a number of drawings of children from nearby Grafton Primary School.

Ms Gomperts, of Hungerford Road, said: “There is an interest in work which is spontaneous, original, personal and interpretive and this is why Selbys was so positive about showing these drawings.”

The show is due to run until Christmas.
