HUNDREDS of people living on the Brunel estate in Westbourne Park staged a protest against Westminster Council’s housing strategy last week, writes Jamie Welham.
The demonstration comes more than six months after council bosses unveiled plans to regenerate their housing stock across the borough. The Brunel estate has been earmarked for major works along with Church Street and the Tollgate estate in Maida Vale. Blueprints for the new design have yet to come to light, but some residents have already made up their minds that they don’t want any changes.
Gary Toomey, chairman of the resident’s association and joint-organiser of the protest said: “We all want to know what is happening. This is a show of strength.”
