Short-changed? 'Dead Man Running Cash drop’ film publicity stunt leaves some disappointed

THE promise of free money was too good to resist.

But the excited crowd gathered on the steps of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square on Wednesday morning were left disappointed, when the “cash drop” to promote the new film British gangster film Dead Man Running turned out to be the odd fiver mixed in with a paper rain of Monopoly money.

A previous drop at Liverpool Street Station was foiled by undercover police, over fears of rioting.

Luca Viola, 27, from Westminster, said: “I really don’t think five grand was dropped here today, it was mostly fake money. 

“It was obviously a publicity stunt.”

Covent Garden gym instructor, Nicolas Trujillo, said: “I made £25. It’s better than nothing so I’m happy even though most of it is fake.”
