RESIDENTS on a Kentish Town estate were celebrating the England football team’s win against Slovenia in style yesterday (Wednesday), by screening the game in their community hall.

It followed victory at the Town Hall on Tuesday, when licensing chiefs approved the Peckwater Estate Tenants and Residents Association’s application for permission to put on a sporting events. The Association also won the right to hold karaoke nights and discos until 11pm from Monday to Saturday and 10.30pm on Sunday. It will also enter a team into the local pool league and host the competition on Monday evenings.

Objectors from nearby streets had argued noise generated from the hall would cause them disturbance.
