RESIDENTS in Belsize Park are keeping their teacups on standby in the hope that they will soon have more neighbours popping round for a quick brew.
Members of the Belsize Residents Association, which was formed in 1971 to oppose plans to build a motorway through the area, want to celebrate their 40th birthday next year with even more “neighbourliness”.
At a special tea party on Sunday, chairwoman Averil Nottage said: “We haven’t decided yet exactly what we’re going to do for our 40th anniversary, but everyone is looking forward to it. We want everyone in the wider Belsize area to join us, and help continue our work to preserve the character of a beautiful and historic area.”
As part of their plans to get more members, the Association are finalising plans with Camden Council to place a noticeboard on Haverstock Hill to help publicise their activities.
