YOUNG people have helped bring Islington into the 21st century by launching four podcasts on iTunes to showcase their achievements.

The podcasts – short, downloadable audio clips – were produced by school pupils who took part in Islington Council’s Easter Activities programme.

The clips feature young people talking about their experiences of accessing Islington’s youth services and the support they received.

Islington’s schools chief, Councillor Richard Watts, said: “These podcasts are a first for the council and I’m really pleased we’re communicating with young people in ways that they can relate to.”

The first of the clips – available free since Monday on iTunes – is about Thomas Harvey, a lifeguard at Highbury Swimming Pool.

The remaining three podcasts will be automatically downloaded to the subscribers’ iTunes on June 28, and July 5 and 12.

Other clips feature 13-year-old Sam Doyle who talks about the Arsenal Kickz Programme; and Dawn Jarrett, who introduces the services at the Waterside Play and Youth project.
