BRING back our fountains! This is the latest campaign circulating in Primrose Hill as campaigners call for disused Victorian drinking fountains back to life.

People were signing a petition in favour of the move at the Primrose Hill Summer Festival in Chalcot Square on Saturday.

It is the brainchild of Transition Primrose Hill, a grassroots green movement aimed at making the area more environmentally sustainable. More than 170 signed up at the summer fair, while a Punch and Judy show entertained children alongside stilt-walkers, funfair rides and Morris dancers.

Both Miliband brothers – Ed and David – visited the annual festival.

Transition Primrose Hill member Xandra Bingley said: “In the children’s sports area of Primrose Hill and the Royal Park, drinking fountains would lessen the enormous use of plastic bottles.

“It would help conserve the environment and people’s money. Transition Primrose Hill plans to be in touch with the local council. This is very much step one.”
