ENGLAND and Arsenal Ladies star Rachel Yankey helped open a new adventure playground in Kilburn on Saturday.
The former Hampstead schoolgirl proved a big hit as she joined in the fun at Kilburn Grange Park, which features an outdoor climbing structure, a treehouse, a slide, a rope swing and a sandpit.
The new playground was built with money from the government’s £225million Play Pathfinder scheme, with Camden receiving £2.7million to create 29 new or enhanced play areas across the borough.
Despite the grey skies, families took part in a host of fun activities, including face painting, a football tournament, a treasure hunt and birdbox decorating.
Councillor Heather Johnson, Town Hall cabinet member for children, schools and families, said: “The playground looks spectacular and is full of exciting-looking equipment that will test children’s balance and increase their confidence.
“Letting children use their imaginations in play is a great way to inspire young minds and I am delighted to be here to celebrate the launch of this great facility.”
