FORGET the Oscars – this year’s hottest gala event was held a little closer to home at Paddington Academy.

Media students glammed up for their red carpet entrance to the annual award ceremony, the “Paddington Golds”.

They were serenaded by members of the academy choir who gave a stirring rendition of Don’t Stop Believing from the hit TV series Glee.

Special mention must go to year 13 student Ahmed Honeini, who won a special award for his progress over the past four years.

Other categories included best advert and best short film.

Headteacher of the Marylands Road school, Oli Tomlinson, said: “It was a fantastic evening and a great opportunity to showcase the brilliant work created by our students over the past year.

“This is the third year of the ‘Paddington Golds’ and each year the calibre of work gets better and better.”
