THIS was the dramatic scene when a helicopter descended on a busy junction in Tufnell Park on Saturday afternoon. Police cleared the Fortess Road and Junction Road crossroads so an air ambulance could join paramedics and the fire brigade after a woman was struck by a train.

A British Transport Police press official said the woman was airlifted to hospital but later died.
He said:  “I can confirm that a 23-year-old woman from Holloway was struck by a northbound Northern line train at Tufnell Park Tube station on Saturday January 23. The incident was reported to police at 3.51pm and is being treated as non-suspicious.”
