FORGET Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and the bloated ranks of the celebrity chef club: this year’s “must have” cookbook owes nothing to television studios or Primrose Hill restaurants.
Around SW1 in 51 Recipes is the handiwork of budding masterchefs at Pimlico Academy and contains everything from how to make the best chocolate chip brownies to fail-safe instructions for a tasty beef stroganoff.
Pupils at the Lupus   Street school devised the scrumptious dishes with the help of teaching staff and volunteers and users of the Abbey community centre in nearby Westminster.
Even headteacher Jerry Collins pulled on some oven gloves, serving up a taste of his motherland with a  recipe for a hearty Irish breakfast.
Deputy head Ivan Baird said: “It has been great fun for the students who have enjoyed collecting ideas from their families who represent a wide range of cultures.”
The book is priced at £4 and is on sale at bookshops in the SW1 area.
