New headteacher for Camden School for Girls

CAMDEN School for Girls have announced the appointment of a new headteacher. Anne Canning, who has steered the popular school for nearly 10 years, will stand down at Easter – to be replaced by her deputy head and English teacher Elizabeth Kitcatt.
Ms Kitcatt has been at the school for 15 years and was previously head of English at Parliament Hill School in Highgate Road. Penny Wild, who chairs the school governors, said: “We are very happy with the appointment. We felt she was the right person for the job.”
Meanwhile, Acland Burghley school have yet to appoint a successor to their current headteacher, Michael Shew, who leaves the Tufnell Park school in July – and Camden’s first academy, sponsored by University College London and due to open in 2011, is also looking for someone to take the helm.
