Mayor of Camden leaves hospital after heart attack recovery

CAMDEN Mayor Omar Faruque Ansari has left hospital after a heart attack scare. He was said yesterday (Wednesday) to be staying with friends and concentrating on recuperating after coming out of the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.

Cllr Ansari was arrested two weeks ago by benefit investigators probing payments he received in connection with a neck injury and is on police bail until March. He has not been charged with any offence and insists he is done nothing wrong. 

While he has not stepped down from his position, Mayoral support services have been removed by chief executive Moira Gibb – deputy Councillor Lulu Mitchell has been carrying out civic duties. He remains suspended from
