MOTORISTS can look forward to a smoother ride after the Town Hall announced a £1million emergency fund to repair roads damaged during the cold weather.

The number of potholes in Islington has quadrupled as a result of the repeated freezing and thawing of road surfaces. Lib Dem council leader Councillor Terry Stacy said: “Anyone who travels around London knows how hard this winter’s big freeze has been on our road surfaces, with large potholes appearing almost overnight. The longer we leave this the worse it is going to get.”
