“CAN they fly, miss?” It was a question that had teachers exchanging nervous glances at The Cavendish School in Camden Town as they welcomed two lesser spotted furry guests from the Arctic Circle.
Mercifully, the reindeer handlers – who had travelled to London from a specialist sanctuary in Leicestershire – were used to being put on the spot, explaining that Oslo and Anders couldn’t take off just yet but “were learning”.
The Christmas treat paid for by parents at the school in Inverness Street was a big hit with children.
They learned about the animals’ diet, why they shed their antlers and how their fur changes colour with the seasons to help camouflage them from predators.
