Diners are being urged to give a tip for good causes under a scheme being launched by Jack Morris, founder of Islington Business Design Centre
MR MORRIS will introduce the Islington Giving Diners scheme at Fish Central restaurant in Central Street, Finsbury, at 1.30pm on Monday.
The restaurant, whose owner George Hussain is well known for his charitable work, will be the first to operate the scheme. Ultimately, the plan is to ask every restaurant in the borough to take part.
Mr Morris said: “London’s richest and poorest residents exist side by side in Islington but live entirely different lives. The borough is the eighth most deprived in England and the fourth most deprived in London.”
Under the scheme, diners will be given a card asking if they would like to provide a tip for good local causes.
Founding members of Islington Giving are The Breadsticks Foundation, Cripplegate Foundation, The Morris Charitable Trust, Richard Cloudesley’s Charity, UnLtd and Voluntary Action Islington. To contact Islington Giving, call 0207 014 5999 or go to www.islingtongiving.org.uk
