BOOKWORMS in Church Street can finally come out of the woodwork after its new library was officially opened .

The £2.5million building on the site of the former library that close two years ago boasts a dedicated “teenage zone” complete with gaming area and mini-amphitheatre. There is also a floor for adults and local community groups as well as a “story-telling nest” for book clubs and author readings.

Pupils from the Gateway School, King Solomon Academy, Quintin Kynsaston School and Paddington Green Primary joined the Lord Mayor of Westminster Judith Warner for Wednesday’s opening. Two weeks of events will feature English National Opera, Science Museum and Ruth Rendell and Rosie Alison readings.
