CAMDEN Town library was invaded by aliens on Friday.

Children from across the borough rolled up their sleeves to create extra-terrestrial beings from cardboard, balloons and shiny materials at the library in the Crowndale Centre in Eversholt Street.

The workshop was part of a series of summer holiday activities run by the library as part of the national summer reading challenge, which encourages children to read six books over the six-week break. This year’s theme is “Space Hop.”

Felicity Page, who runs the library, said: “We’ve had a really good uptake from all the kids. Around 1,500 children in Camden are taking part in the reading challenge, with 800 getting involved in events.

“We’ve also been working with the schools to get children involved and when they go back in September we will go round to present awards.”
