TWO men have been bailed for a second time in the inquiry into the murder of young electrician Daniel Smith.
Mr Smith, 22, from Queen’s Park was shot in the early hours of May 22 in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity, when he left a KFC takeaway in Harrow Road, Paddington, at the junction with Sutherland Avenue.
Police arrested two 21-year-old men days after the shooting on suspicion of murder.
They were bailed until Wednesday this week, where they appeared at a central London police station and have now been bailed until October 14 pending inquiries.
Three other men have also been arrested on suspicion of murder, a 22-year-old on July 21, a 23-year-old on July 29 and a 30-year-old on August 2. All have been bailed until later dates.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward. There is a reward of £20,000 for intelligence that would lead to an arrest and prosecution.
Detective Inspector Mark Brookes, leading the investigation, said: “We believe this is likely to be gang-related and was a case of mistaken identity. We are also still looking for two other individuals seen in the KFC at and around the same time as the incident.
“There was a woman aged around early 20s, black, wearing a distinctive black baseball cap with a letter P on the front, and also a white man with brown hair and glasses carrying a briefcase.
“We really do need them to come forward. Their information could be vital. If they are frightened we can offer witness protection, which our team are very experienced in.”
Anyone who can assist is urged to call the incident room on 020 8733 4704; to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
