Woman escapes blaze in Poynings Road

A WOMAN was forced to leap to safety from her top floor window to escape a blaze that broke out in her Tufnell Park home.
Neighbours were woken by screaming after the fire broke out in the Poynings Road terraced home in Upper Holloway at about 1am on Saturday.
All three tenants managed to escape before emergency services arrived.
One 28-year-old women suffered from burns and all were taken to Whittington Hospital for treatment.
About 20 firefighters from Hornsey, Kentish Town and Holloway stations attended. Both floors of the house were damaged by the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
Neighbour Anne Stepto said: “Firefighters came and checked our walls and loft with heat-seeking devices to make sure no fire was leaking through to us. They were brilliant, they were here so quickly and thank God they were – it was very scary.”
Neighbour, Janet Kaizik, said: “I heard a girl screaming out fire – it was really horrible.”
