HER Majesty the Queen opened a new pioneering cancer centre in Marylebone this week, writes Jamie Welham.

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh she cut the ribbon at the £80million London Clinic in Harley Street, 78 years after the original hospital was opened by her late mother.

The state-of-the-art centre is the largest new-build in the private healthcare sector in the past 30 years and boasts world-leading radiotherapy, radiosurgery, and imaging equipment.

The Queen is pictured with Matron of the London Clinic, Amanda Hallums, and cancer patient Barbara Bright who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.
