MORE than 250 Scouts aged from six to 18 walked 10 laps – the equivalent of four miles – around the Emirates stadium

to raise money for the Haiti disaster appeal, writes Peter Gruner.

The two hour event, which has raised more than £1,500 in sponsorship so far, was organised by Mark Darlow, Group Scout Leader of the 201st Islington Sea Scouts, in Avenell Road.

Mr Darlow said “All Scouts are really good at helping other people, and this adventure not only went some way to support UNICEF in Haiti, it was also good fun and good exercise.”

Kelly Owens, a 17-year-old Explorer Scout, said: “I was glad to be raising money to help people who have been through such a terrible time. I am sad that there have been so

many deaths and injuries in Haiti.

“I hope that the money we raise by doing the sponsored walk will make a difference”.
