AN Archway school has been named as one of the most improved in the country for maths and computing following last year’s impressive GCSE results, writes Róisín Gadelrab.

St Aloysius College’s achievement was honoured at the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust awards last week.

Headteacher Tom Mannion, who collected an award, said: “To be one of the most improved maths and ICT specialist colleges nationally is a truly significant achievement and bears testimony to the dedication and hard work of pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff.”

The Hornsey Lane school, which gained specialist status in 2008, shared the honour for the nation’s most improved mathematics and computing college with a community school in Andover.
