POLICE are hunting for two besuited whisky and tonic-drinking attackers who beat up a bartender who refused to serve them because they were drunk.

Detectives are asking drinkers at the Junction Pub, in Corsica Street, Highbury, to try to recall if they saw anyone drinking Jack Daniel’s and tonic on the evening of April 1.

The men, both in black suits and aged about 50, lost their cool after being told they wouldn’t be served anymore, as they appeared intoxicated.

After the pair became abusive and refused to leave, a 22-year-old barman stepped in to help eject them from the pub.

But one slashed the bartender in the throat with a sharp object, leaving him in a critical condition and needing reconstructive surgery,

The victim was taken to the Royal London Hospital and is in a stable condition.

The suspects, who both wore black suits and white shirts, were about 50 years old and 5ft 10in tall.

One wore black-rimmed glasses and had white hair, while the second was slightly overweight and had grey hair and a beard.

Islington Police investigating officer DS Rick Nolan said: “I appeal to anyone who may know who these men are. Their drink of choice was Jack Daniel’s Whiskey with tonic water, which is an unusual mix and may jog people’s memory.”

Anyone with information can contact DS Nolan on 0207 421 0185 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
