BELLY dancing, pesto making, henna painting and not to forget a huge bouncy castle were just some of the activities at the Bedford Community Centre.

Parents brought along their children to a celebration event for the installation of a new boiler system in the building last Thursday.

Mum of two Ruchia Begum, 30, said: “It’s good because it’s different and it’s indoors – that way kids are having fun and are safer. Parks are great but you just worry about them running off.”

The centre was able to purchase the new boiler through investment given to them by Saudi Aramco, who teamed up with the charity National Energy Action to scan the nation for a worthy community centre for the investment.

Catherine Menist who manages the centre, said: “They have been very kind in funding our new boiler. The other boiler was over 20 years old and now we expect to save £1,500 a year on bills.”
