CINEMA staff had a real-life Easter surprise when they found a rabbit scuttling around the box office – minutes after selling tickets for a weekend screening of Alice in Wonderland.
The Easter Sunday visitor was found in Islington’s Vue cinema in Angel.
The one-year-old rabbit was discovered by the cinema’s duty manager, who promptly called the RSPCA. It is believed the rabbit was an unwanted pet released by his owner – but how he ended up in the Parkfield Street cinema remains a mystery.
RSPCA inspector Leigh Summers said: “This is a very bizarre place to leave a rabbit. There is never any excuse to dump an animal in any situation but this is even more unusual.”
The brown and white rabbit, who has been named Pique by RSPCA officers, was taken to Harmsworth Animal Hospital in Finsbury Park for a check-up.
He is now living with foster carers, who hope to rehome him with a female rabbit companion.
Anyone with information about Pique can call the RSPCA’s advice and cruelty line on 0300 1234 999.
